My First 6 Months at Citi

The mandate at Citi is to be the best digital bank in the world and we’re working hard to make that happen. I’m 6 months into my engagement there, advocating for technology to be part of the design process.  I’m working with leadership on defining roles and workflows where design and technology can work together and iterate quickly to provide the best possible experience for the end user.

I’m also embedded with a creative team that’s responsible for a new part of the Citi mobile iOS and Android app.  That team designs the screens and features and then I build it in iOS and Android. We test/tweak/change the interactions and animations until everyone is happy with the prototype.  

Working directly with the Citi engineering team in Texas, I help them reuse as much of my code as possible and integrate it into their codebase.  Even if they can’t use parts of my code they benefit from seeing all the timing, animations and UI elements I used. Since the creative team had already tested it that means there are less surprises and changes when the team distributes the first function version of the app internally.
